Our May luncheon was a beautiful, heartfelt Memorial Day tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the fallen soldiers who have served our nation.

The highlight of the tribute was an inspiring speech by Lt. Gen. (Retired) James L. Terry, representing the University of North Georgia, Georgia's Military Academy. Gen. Terry spoke on the true meaning of Memorial Day, reflecting on the profound sacrifices made by those who have served in the armed forces. His words carried a deep charge to the attendees: to remember, honor and preserve the legacy of our fallen heroes.

One of the most touching moments of the day was presented by our Caring for America committee chair, who shared a deeply emotional tribute to Maj. Kevin Jenrette, and the NG '95 Memorial Scholarship Fund. Maj. Jenrette was killed in action June 4, 2009 in Afghanistan and is a Georgia hero. He left behind his wife, two sons and a daughter. This endowed scholarship financially provides for Georgia’s future leaders who attend UNG. You can click here to donate.

\Then the names of fallen soldiers, submitted by our members, were read aloud by our Armed Services Committee chair, followed by a moment of silence.

May we always remember those who made the ultimate sacrficice and uphold the values they fought to protect.
